80 hectares of gardens in the heart of Rome. Dogs on leads are welcome throughout the park. Shaded paths, fountains and lawns make it an ideal walk at any time of day. Avoid Sunday afternoons — very busy.

The ancient Roman road lined with umbrella pines is one of Rome's finest parks for dogs. Vast green spaces, off-leash areas and a peaceful atmosphere far from the centre. Accessible by bus 118 from the Colosseum.

Rome's most authentic and dog-friendly neighbourhood. Medieval lanes, osterie with terraces and Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere all welcome dogs and their owners. Ideal for an evening terrace dinner.

The interior of the Colosseum and Roman Forum is off-limits to animals. Enjoy the surrounding exterior areas and neighbouring park for a memorable photo session — your dog and the ancient ruins make an unforgettable duo.

The Tiber quaysides are Rome's favourite walking spot for dogs and their owners. On the Prati or Trastevere side, the lower quays (accessible via steps) are sometimes used as informal dog swimming areas in summer.
