The Great Lawn inside this 351-acre flagship park is an unfenced off-leash area from 5am to 10pm daily, though dogs stay barred from the playground, pool, and sports fields. Combine it with the Lady Bird Lake trail along the park's edge.

A 13-acre off-leash island on Lake Austin just below the Tom Miller Dam, with a shaded loop trail and several gravel entry points where dogs swim freely. Unfenced and unsupervised, watch for algae advisories in late summer.

Up to 1.5 million Mexican free-tailed bats emerge from under this downtown bridge at dusk from roughly March through October. Watch from the outdoor hike-and-bike trail below with a leashed dog, one of the city's free, dog-friendly evening rituals.
