Getting To and Around Formentera with a Pet

Three operators (Balearia, Aquabus, Trasmapi) run frequent fast ferries from Ibiza Town harbour to La Savina port in 30-45 minutes year-round, with up to two departures per hour in summer. Dogs travel free on the open outdoor deck or in pet-friendly cabins on the larger boats (€5-10 supplement). La Savina is the only port: every car, scooter and bike rental on the island starts here.

The only public bus operator on the island, with five lines linking La Savina port to Sant Francesc, Es Pujols, La Mola, Es Caló and Es Caló de Sant Agustí. Small dogs in closed carriers travel free; medium and large dogs are at the driver's discretion (muzzle + leash recommended). Service is hourly in summer, every 2-3 hours in winter, no service on Sundays in low season.

Half a dozen rental shops cluster on the La Savina port quay (Rentcar Migjorn, Moto Rent Migjorn, Bicis Formentera) renting bicycles, e-bikes and scooters by the day or week. Most operators allow small dogs on a fixed front basket (max 10 kg) with the dog leashed inside; helmets and basic dog liners are usually included. Rates from €8/day for a city bike up to €25/day for an e-bike.
