Best Dog Parks & Off-Leash Areas in Zaragoza

Zaragoza's flagship park: 27 hectares of mature pine, formal avenues, fountains and gardens, opened in 1929 and renamed in 2010 after the Aragonese singer-poet José Antonio Labordeta. Two specific zones allow dogs off-leash during permitted hours: Paseo de los Bearneses (from El Batallador fountain down to the Huerva river) and Cabezo Buenavista. Outside those zones, Rosaleda, Botanical Garden, Rincón de Goya, Winter Garden, French Garden, leashes are mandatory at all times.

On the north bank of the Ebro, opposite the Casco Histórico across the Pilar Bridge. Hosts one of the city's largest fenced canine recreation zones: 4,725 m² split into two perimeter-fenced areas, 2,050 m² for calm dogs and 2,675 m² for active dogs, with double security gates, drinking fountains and benches. No time restrictions inside the enclosure: dogs can be off-leash any hour of the day. Outside the enclosure, the wider 21-hectare park follows the standard seasonal off-leash schedule.

Zaragoza's largest forested area: a vast Mediterranean pine forest on the right bank of the Imperial Canal, between the canal and Monte de Torrero, just south of Parque Grande. Wide forest tracks, undulating terrain, and almost no built infrastructure, this is where locals come for a real countryside walk without leaving the city. Off-leash permitted during seasonal hours; the size of the forest means you can walk for an hour without crossing a road.

The redesigned riverside paths along both banks of the Ebro between the Almozara, Pilar and Hierro bridges. Combines wide paved promenades, sculpted gardens and reed-bed wetlands, with views back to El Pilar and the historic skyline. Leash mandatory along the central paseo; off-leash permitted in adjacent grassy zones during seasonal hours. Excellent for early-morning and sunset walks, the Ebro stays cool when the city centre overheats.

A 4-hectare neighbourhood park in the Almozara district with one of Zaragoza's most popular fenced dog enclosures, a flat, fully gated grass and gravel zone with two entrances, water fountains for dogs, and shade from mature pines. The enclosure is unrestricted by hour; the surrounding park follows the seasonal off-leash schedule. The park is a 10-minute tram ride from the city centre on Line 1.
