Oropesa del Mar

A 16th-century watchtower standing over the sea, built to guard the coast against Barbary pirates. Freely accessible outside, you can walk around it on the leash along the seafront.

The hilltop old town of white lanes, church square and remains of the old castle overlooking the bay. You wander it on the leash, among terraces and sea viewpoints.

A lighthouse crowning the cape at the end of the old town, opening onto a wide Mediterranean panorama. The interior is not open, but the esplanade and surrounding path can be walked on the leash.

An urban sandy beach at the foot of the old town, a sheltered curve backed by a lively promenade. Swimming and play off-season; in summer dogs are banned from the patrolled sand, so find the permitted zone.

A former railway turned flat coastal path linking Oropesa to Benicàssim along the coves. Ideal for walking or running with a leashed dog, shaded by pines and facing the sea.

A natural park of coastal lagoons and marsh north of Oropesa, a refuge for waterbirds and turtles. Trails and hides can be walked on the leash; stay on the paths to protect the wildlife.
