Pet-Friendly Transport in Vitoria-Gasteiz

The municipal bus network operated by Transportes Urbanos de Vitoria. Under the regulations updated by the City Council, only certified guide and assistance dogs and small pets in approved closed carriers are allowed on board, the carrier must produce no smell or noise that disturbs other passengers.

The tram operated by Euskotren runs across the city and is the most dog-friendly public transport in Vitoria-Gasteiz. Leashed and well-behaved dogs are accepted on board with no size limit at the discretion of the conductor.

Vitoria's Renfe station, a 10-minute walk south of the Casco Medieval, serves Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, San Sebastián and Pamplona on the Cercanías and ALVIA long-distance lines. Renfe accepts dogs up to 10 kg in a closed carrier on most services and the recent dog pilot programme allows medium-sized dogs in selected AVE/ALVIA cars.
