Pet-Friendly Attractions in Vitoria-Gasteiz

The Gothic cathedral built between the late 13th and 14th centuries, designed as a fortress-church inside the city defences and the subject of the famous Open for Works restoration programme. The interior is visitable only by guided tour with advance booking (pets not allowed); the Plaza Burullería and the rampart-path around the apse are dog-friendly.

The civic heart of Vitoria-Gasteiz at the foot of the Casco Medieval hill, dominated by the Iglesia de San Miguel Arcángel which houses the patroness image of the Virgen Blanca and by the 1917 monument to the Battle of Vitoria. Café terraces and dog-welcoming pintxo bars line the perimeter.

The almond-shaped medieval old town climbs the hilltop in concentric ovals of cobbled streets, each named for a guild: Herrería (smiths), Cuchillería (cutlers), Zapatería (cobblers), Correría (saddlers). The whole loop is pedestrianised, open to leashed dogs and dotted with mural art, churches and pintxo bars.
