Pet-Friendly Parks in Vitoria-Gasteiz

One of Europe's largest urban wetlands, just 3 km east of the city centre, with deer herds, European mink, buzzards and spoonbills viewable from the boardwalks. Dogs must be leashed on the public boardwalks to protect the wildlife, but a clearly signposted off-leash recreation area in the western half of the park lets larger dogs run freely.

The southern lobe of the Anillo Verde, with the Casa de la Dehesa de Olarizu, a 28-hectare botanical garden showcasing native Iberian flora and a network of meadow trails climbing toward the Olarizu hill. Leashed dogs are welcome throughout, and the upper meadows have a signposted off-leash zone for non-dangerous breeds.

A 160-hectare protected oak and pine forest on the southern flank of the city, lifted above Vitoria by the gentle slopes of the Sierra de Vitoria-Gasteiz. The whole park is a designated free-running zone for non-dangerous breeds, the largest off-leash forest inside Vitoria's green ring.
