Dog-Friendly Parks in Dénia

The most accessible Montgó approach from Dénia itself, the Cova de l'Aigua trail climbs gently from the northern edge of the town through pine, carob and rosemary scrub to a Roman-era spring cave at around 350 m. Leashed dogs are required throughout the Parque Natural (it is a protected ZEC area with native ibex and Bonelli's eagle), but the trail is shaded enough for early-morning summer use. Allow 2h30 round trip with stops, full sun above 350 m so turn back if you start late.

The southern tip of the Montgó massif drops as a 175 m limestone cliff into the Mediterranean at Cap de Sant Antoni, marking the end of the Reserva Marina de Cabo San Antonio. A flat 1.5 km trail from the Las Rotas car park leads to the lighthouse viewpoint with vertiginous views over Xàbia bay and, on clear days, Ibiza on the horizon. Leashed dogs throughout, minimal shade, perfect at sunrise or in the last 2 hours before sunset.

A 5 km flat seafront promenade running north from the port along the Les Marines beach axis, the paseo is Dénia's most-used dog-walk corridor and remains usable all year. Wide enough for joggers and strollers, shaded by tamarisks at intervals, with free public water fountains every 800 m or so. Leashed dogs throughout, the parallel sand strip itself is restricted by the seasonal Ajuntament ordinance from May to mid-October but the paved promenade is dog-legal year-round.
