Dénia is one of the rare Costa Blanca municipalities with an officially designated year-round dog beach, the Platja Canina de Les Deveses on the long dune-backed sand strip north of the port. The main urban beaches (Les Marines and Las Rotas) ban dogs entirely from May to mid-October per Ajuntament ordinance, so the year-round dog beach is the headline asset for summer visitors. Outside the summer ban, the leashed-dog zone expands to all of Les Marines, and the rocky south coast at Las Rotas opens for off-season snorkelling with calm shallow water.

Platja Canina de Les Deveses

🐾 Officially designated year-round dog beach by Ajuntament de Dénia, signposted with the green Playa Canina marker. Off-leash permitted on the sand within the marked zone. Backed by protected dunes (do not let dogs run into the dune vegetation, it is fragile and the marker fines apply). No dog showers on site, bring fresh water. Reachable by car from the N-332 with a free dirt car park 200 m from the sand, or by Tourist Bus línea Canina in July and August.

💡 Arrive before 10:00 in summer, the sand reaches 50°C by midday. Verify the green Playa Canina marker before letting your dog off-leash, the exact boundaries are reset each season by Ajuntament Dénia signage

Playa de Les Marines

🐾 Dogs banned from the sand during the bathing season (typically 1 May to 15 October, exact dates set annually by Ajuntament Dénia ordenanza). Off-season (mid-October to end-April), leashed dogs welcome along the full 5 km of golden sand and the parallel paseo marítimo is dog-legal year-round. Blue Flag beach with showers and lifeguard in summer.

💡 From November to April this is your easy default sand-and-sea walk straight from the port. In May–October, use the paseo marítimo above the sand instead and head to Les Deveses dog beach 8 km north for the swim

Playa de Las Rotas

🐾 A 3 km rocky and gravel coastline of small calas (Trampolí, Punta Negra, Les Arenetes) within the Reserva Marina de Cabo San Antonio. Same seasonal ban as Les Marines on the official bathing zones (1 May to 15 October), but the unmarked rocky strands between the official calas are a grey area, locals typically walk leashed dogs there off-peak in the early morning even in summer. Off-season, leashed dogs welcome throughout. The marine reserve protects exceptional snorkelling visibility.

💡 Bring booties for rocky access if your dog is sensitive on its paws. The water at Trampolí is shallow and crystal-clear, ideal for older dogs that are not strong swimmers
