Delft is exceptionally easy to navigate with a dog: the modern Delft NS station (rebuilt 2015, underground tracks) sits a five-minute walk from the Markt and puts you in The Hague Central or Rotterdam Central in 12 minutes, Amsterdam Centraal in 1 hour, and Schiphol Airport in 45 minutes. NS rules apply nationwide: dogs in a carrier travel free, larger dogs need an NS Dagkaart Hond (€3.30) and a leash. The HTM heritage Tram 1 to Scheveningen and Connexxion / EBS buses around Pijnacker complete the picture.

NS Trains (Delft Station)

🐾 Dogs in a hand-held carrier travel free on all NS trains. Larger dogs need a Dagkaart Hond (Day Pass for Dogs, €3.30, unlimited NS travel that day) and must be on a leash with a muzzle available in case of complaint. Intercity to The Hague Central 12 min, to Rotterdam Central 12 min, to Amsterdam Centraal 1 h, to Schiphol 45 min.

💡 Buy the Dagkaart Hond at any yellow NS machine on the Delft Station concourse before boarding; one ticket covers all NS travel that day, including the side trips to Rotterdam, The Hague and Hoek van Holland.

HTM Tram 1 (Delft–Den Haag–Scheveningen)

🐾 HTM Tram 1 runs from Delft Tanthof through the centre to Scheveningen Noord via The Hague, one of the longest light-rail lines in the Netherlands. Dogs in a carrier free; larger dogs allowed leashed at the driver's discretion, no extra ticket. Useful end-to-end if you are going from a Delft hotel to a Scheveningen dog beach.

💡 Tram 1 from Delft Centrum stop to Scheveningen Noord takes 55 min direct, sit on the right side leaving Delft for the canal views, and the left side approaching Scheveningen for the first glimpse of the North Sea.

Schiphol Airport Direct Train

🐾 NS Intercity from Delft Station to Schiphol Airport runs every 15 minutes, 45 min journey via Leiden Centraal. Same dog rules as all NS trains: carrier free, larger dog needs Dagkaart Hond (€3.30) and leash. Schiphol has multiple indoor pet-relief areas in every terminal.

💡 If you fly with KLM out of Schiphol, the pet-relief room in Terminal 3 land-side is the largest and quietest; ask staff for the door code at check-in.
