Best Parks for Dogs in Delft, Delftse Hout & Kalverbos Off-Leash

A 220-hectare recreation park east of Delft built on a former polder, with a swim lake, mature beech and poplar avenues, a sailing pond, the Recreatiegebied Delftse Hout campsite, and a dedicated fenced off-leash dog meadow ('hondenlosloopgebied') on the south side of the lake. The 7 km perimeter path is flat and signed; locals park free at the Korftlaan entrance and let the dog run within five minutes of the car.

A small leafy city park inside the singel ring on the northeast edge of the medieval centre, five minutes' walk from the Markt. The grassy central lawn is a marked off-leash zone, surrounded by mature limes and a small pond. Locals from the Centrum and Vrijenban neighbourhoods use it for the daily morning and evening dog routine. Modest in size but the most convenient legal off-leash spot from any old-town hotel.

TU Delft's 161-hectare technical-university campus south of the centre is one of the greenest in the Netherlands, with the long linear Mekelpark running through the heart of campus, mature plane trees, rowing-canal banks along the Schie, and quiet weekend avenues used by city dog walkers. Dogs must be leashed campus-wide, but the network of grass strips, open lawns and canal banks adds up to a 4 km easy loop with no cars, perfect for a calm rainy-day walk.
