Reizen met huisdieren in Bern

Trams 6, 7, 8, 9 and the bus network connect the centre to the Bremgartenwald, Bärenpark, Wankdorf and the suburbs. Small pets in a closed carrier travel free; larger dogs need a half-fare 2nd-class ticket, the BERNMOBIL Dog Day Pass (around CHF 7) is the cheapest option for a full day of city travel.

From Bern Hauptbahnhof, direct trains run to Zurich (1h00), Geneva (1h45), Basel (1h05), Lucerne (1h00) and Interlaken (50 min) at least every 30 minutes. Small dogs up to 30 cm shoulder height in a closed carrier travel free; larger dogs need a half-fare 2nd-class ticket. The CHF 25 dog day pass covers any combination of trains, buses and most local transport across Switzerland for one day.

The 5-minute funicular up the Gurten hill from Wabern, reached by tram 9 from the centre in 15 minutes. Dogs ride at half fare (small in carrier free), and the cabins are large enough for medium-large breeds. The funicular runs every 15 minutes from 06:30 to 23:30 daily and is the start of the Hundewald walking trail.
