Ruins of the main Roman city of the Balearics: forum, houses and a theatre carved into the rock. An open-air site; leashed dogs are tolerated on the surrounding paths, and the freely accessible theatre is the easiest section to see with a pet.

Wall-top walkway on the 14th-century medieval ramparts, 1.5 km around the old town between Porta de Xara and Porta de Mallorca. A free, open walk, leashed dogs welcome, with fine views over the rooftops and the bay.

Seafront promenade between the marina and the beaches, lined with terraces, many of which tolerate dogs outside. Pleasant all year round, very busy in summer: go in the morning.

The largest wetland in the Balearics, a haven for migratory birds a few kilometres from the port. Leashed dogs are admitted on the main trails; keep to the paths and avoid the bird hides at busy times.

Seven kilometres of gently shelving white sand, northern Mallorca's big family beach. Dogs are banned during the summer bathing season; off season, an early on-leash walk is tolerated. In summer, fall back on the Punta Engroixada area, known as a dog-tolerated alternative.

A 17th-century hilltop sanctuary on the peninsula between Alcudia and Cap des Pinar, the starting point for trails up to the Talaia d'Alcudia (445 m). Leashed dogs welcome on the paths, with panoramas over both bays.
