Dog-Friendly Parks & Green Spaces in Zadar

Zadar's largest urban park, 5.5 hectares laid out 1888–1890 on the site of a 16th-century Venetian fortress. Winding gravel paths, century-old pines and cypresses, a small pond, and elevated viewpoints over the Adriatic. The park is renowned among locals as the city's main dog-walking ground; leashed dogs are welcome throughout, with bag dispensers at the main entrances.

The Riva is Zadar's continuous 2 km seafront promenade running around the entire Old Town peninsula, from the ferry port to the Sea Organ and Greeting to the Sun. Stone-paved and traffic-free, with broad sea views, shaded plane trees in summer, and dozens of benches. Leashed dogs are universally welcome — this is where locals walk their dogs at sunset.

Croatia's most famous national park, a UNESCO World Heritage site of 16 cascading lakes and waterfalls, is reachable from Zadar in 90 minutes by car or organised tour. Dogs are welcome on leash throughout the park trails (entrance fee plus a small €5 dog ticket) and the boardwalks accommodate them. Bring water — the park has limited refilling points along the longer routes.
