Forests & Nature Walks with a Dog in Warnemünde

A wooded cliff coast rising to around 25 metres just west of Warnemünde, an 83-hectare nature reserve where forest paths run along the top of the Baltic Steilküste with wide sea views. It is the classic coastal walk from the Alter Strom, reached on foot past the Diedrichshagen dog beach, and a cool, shaded alternative to the open sand.

One of Germany's largest coastal forests, stretching east from Markgrafenheide behind the Baltic dunes, laced with flat, shaded forest and cycle tracks right down to the sea. Reached by the little Warnow ferry, it is the big-sky, big-space counterpoint to the resort, ideal for a long, cool leashed walk on hot days.

The flat seafront promenade runs behind the beach past the Teepott and the lighthouse out to the Westmole, the long pier at the harbour mouth where the Warnow meets the Baltic. It is the everyday leashed walk in town, breezy and level, perfect for watching the ferries and cruise ships come and go with your dog at your side.
