The experience here is standing at the counter or finding a spot on the narrow calle — and dogs are entirely normal here. The cicheti change daily based on the Rialto market's morning catch. Arrive early (10:00–11:00) for the best selection.

One of Venice's oldest bacari, dating to 1415, the Cantina Do Spade is near the Rialto and has narrow outdoor benches on the calle where dogs sit with their owners in the most relaxed Venetian style. Excellent cicheti, good wines by the glass, and a genuinely historic atmosphere. Locals treat it as a lunchtime institution — arrive at noon for the busiest, most social experience.

A well-regarded traditional osteria in the Castello sestiere, one of Venice's most authentic and less touristic neighbourhoods. Ae Sconte has outdoor tables on the quiet street and is known for excellent seafood-based Venetian cuisine. The owners are dog-friendly — local Venetians regularly bring their dogs here for lunch. Specialities include sarde in saor and fresh pasta with cuttlefish ink.

Campo Santa Margherita is the most lively and dog-friendly campo in Venice, a large open square in the Dorsoduro neighbourhood that serves as the social heart of the student and young creative community. The square has multiple cafés and bars with outdoor tables, and dogs are an entirely normal sight here at any hour. Il Caffè (known locally as 'Caffè Rosso') and the neighbouring bars all welcome dogs on their outdoor seating.
