Dog-Friendly Parks in Thessaloniki

Nea Paralia is Thessaloniki's flagship public space — a sweeping 3.5 km waterfront park redesigned in 2013 with 12 themed garden sections, sculpture, a skate park, cycling paths, and a dedicated dog park with benches and water stations. It stretches from the Concert Hall east to the port and is used by thousands of residents every day. Dogs are welcome throughout and the dedicated dog area provides genuine off-leash space.

Ano Poli (the Upper Town) is Thessaloniki's best-preserved historical neighbourhood — a maze of cobbled lanes, whitewashed houses, Byzantine churches, and fragments of the original city walls, perched on the hill above the modern city. For dog owners, it is the best walking neighbourhood in Thessaloniki: the streets are quiet, the views extraordinary, and the old-town atmosphere completely different from the busy city below. Seich Sou is Thessaloniki's urban forest — a 3,300-hectare pine woodland on the hills northeast of the city that provides the best off-road walking for dogs in the area. It has marked trails, open clearings, and a cooler microclimate that makes it the go-to escape from the city's summer heat. Dogs on a leash can explore the full trail network, and many owners use the wider forest paths for off-leash exercise in less-frequented areas.
