Dog-Friendly Beaches near Split

Bačvice is Split's most famous and accessible beach, a shallow pebble bay famous for the game of picigin. During the June–September beach season, dogs are not permitted on the main beach. From October to May, dogs are welcome. The surrounding beach bars and promenade are accessible with dogs year-round. A pleasant off-season destination right next to the city centre.

The Kaštela Bay stretches northwest of Split toward Trogir, with several small town beaches that are more relaxed about dogs than the main Split beaches. Some sections allow dogs outside the official bathing zones. The Kaštela waterfront promenade is dog-friendly year-round. Accessible by bus 12 from Split. The Trogir old town (UNESCO) is also accessible and dogs are welcome in the outdoor streets and on café terraces.

The rocky coves around the Bene park at the western tip of Marjan Hill are the best option for dogs to swim near Split city centre. Outside the June–September main beach season, dogs can swim freely in the clear Adriatic water from the rocky shoreline. The water is exceptionally clear and the setting — pine forest meeting the sea — is beautiful. A local secret that even many Split residents don't know about.
