Pet-Friendly Attractions in Sofia

Sofia's signature landmark, a vast neo-Byzantine cathedral with golden domes that dominate the city skyline. Pets are not admitted inside (assistance dogs only), but the wide stone-paved square outside is leash-friendly and free, with the Saturday flea market spread along the back side. The space stays cool in summer thanks to the surrounding trees.

The pedestrian shopping spine of Sofia, running south from Sveta Nedelya square towards the Vitosha mountain. Lined with cafés, gelato shops, and bookstores, the entire 1.2 km is leash-friendly and the most concentrated dog-watching spot in the city. The view of the Vitosha peaks at the south end is the city's signature photograph.

A 13th-century UNESCO church on the south edge of the city, famous for its 90 medieval murals. The interior admits only assistance dogs, but the Boyana neighbourhood and the marked waterfall trail (2 km up from the church) are leash-friendly.
