Dog-Friendly Parks & Dunes in Scheveningen

A rolling coastal dune park of open sand, marram grass and low woodland stretching between Scheveningen and Kijkduin, part of the Natura 2000 area Westduinpark & Wapendal. It is one of the finest dog walks in The Hague, with sea views from the high dunes and easy access to the beach beyond. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on the lead across most of the reserve to protect nesting birds and grazing sheep.

A sheltered pocket of dune woodland in the Vogelwijk, dotted with pine and oak and carpeted with dune soil, forming part of the wider Westduinpark. The municipality has designated it an official off-leash area, so this is where local dogs come to run freely close to Scheveningen. The tree cover makes it a pleasant walk even in wetter or windier weather.

A large leafy city wood between Scheveningen village and the centre of The Hague, laced with winding paths, ponds and open glades. It is a green corridor for walking a dog in the shade, handy when the beach is off-limits to dogs in high summer. Dogs are welcome on the lead along the paths, with the usual clean-up rule.
