Pet-Friendly Restaurants in Piran

A small family-run Slovenian-Istrian restaurant a few minutes' walk from Tartini Square, widely considered the most reliable serious cooking in Piran. The kitchen does proper brodet, pasta with truffles from Hrastovlje, grilled Adriatic fish, and house gnocchi. The street-level terrace on Dantejeva ulica is the pet-friendly seating, sheltered from the sea wind. Bookings strongly advised in summer.

A characterful order-at-the-counter fish fry in the old salt-merchant square just inside the medieval walls. Fresh fritto misto of squid, anchovies and small Adriatic fish served in paper cones, fried on the spot. The communal outdoor tables on Prvomajski trg are the seating, and leashed dogs are an everyday sight under them. Cash-only, lunch and early evening only.

A long-running family fish restaurant tucked into a narrow Venetian alley behind Tartini Square. Classic Slovenian-Istrian seafood: brodet, scampi buzara, grilled fish by the kilo, generous antipasti. The small outdoor seating on the lane catches the cool evening shade and is regularly used by guests with dogs at their feet. The wine list is heavy on local Istrian refošk and malvazija.

A bustling all-day seafront café-bar on the Stjenkova waterfront, with a wide terrace looking straight across the bay to the Slovenian Istrian coast and (on clear days) the Italian shoreline of Trieste. Coffee, spritz, light meals, and one of the most pleasant locations in town for a long lazy afternoon with a dog at the foot of the chair. Open year-round.
