💡 Come at 07:30 before the crowds arrive. The parvis is almost empty, the light is beautiful, and you can walk the full island circuit in peace. By 10:00 it is extremely busy

💡 Avoid the funicular with a large dog (technically permitted but very crowded). Take the stairs via Rue Foyatier instead — it is only 222 steps and the views improve with each flight. Arrive before 09:00 on weekdays for an almost tourist-free experience

💡 The arcaded galleries have a number of excellent restaurants with tables that face the garden. Le Grand Véfour (one of Paris's oldest restaurants) and Kei both have terrace seating where well-behaved dogs are tolerated. Reserve in advance
