Palamós is a 17,000-resident Costa Brava fishing-port municipality in the Baix Empordà comarca of Girona, defined by its active fishing fleet (3rd largest in Catalonia by volume), the Museu de la Pesca on the working harbour, the casc antic of Sant Joan de Palamós on the hilltop, the medieval Castell de Sant Esteve clifftop ruins north, and a four-port coastline of beaches from Platja Gran (town centre) to La Fosca, Cala S'Alguer fishermen-hut postcard cove, Platja del Castell and Cala Margarida. The Passeig del Mar seafront promenade, the Carrer Major in the old town and the harbour quay around the Llotja de Palamós fish auction concentrate the village restaurants, all leaning hard on the Gamba de Palamós PDO red prawn (the Cuina del Peix de Palamós programme has protected the local fish kitchen since 2008) and arròs de la barca fish-stock rice. Catalan health rules (Decret 1/2010 and Llei 22/2003) leave dog access at the host's discretion as long as the dog is leashed and outside food preparation zones. Most seafront and harbour terraces openly welcome dogs because the customer base mixes Camí de Ronda GR-92 hikers, harbour walkers and Empordà residents who walk the village with their pet. The three addresses below appear consistently on the Ajuntament de Palamós tourism office's curated map and on Google's accepts-dogs filter for the town.
