Castell de Sant Esteve de Mar & clifftop trail
Clifftop above La Fosca and Platja del Castell · Cap de Planes, 17230 Palamós
The free open-air ruins of the medieval Castell de Sant Esteve de Mar crowning the clifftop between La Fosca and Platja del Castell, 3 km north of Palamós centre. A short stone-cut trail climbs through pine cover from the La Fosca car park to the ruins and the panoramic viewpoint over the cove and the Cap de Planes promontory. Leashed dogs welcome on the path and at the viewpoint year-round.
💡 Park at La Fosca and walk up at sunset; the warm light catches the clifftop ruins and the Cap de Planes water below. The trail is short (15 min) but the last stretch is loose stone, watch a young or senior dog on the descent
