The Comune requires all dogs to be on a leash maximum 1.5 m in public, with a muzzle available on demand; clean-up is mandatory and fined €25–500 if breached. Padua's main paid museums (Scrovegni Chapel, Eremitani Civic Museums, Palazzo Zuckermann, Orto Botanico) prohibit all dogs except registered assistance dogs. The Basilica di Sant'Antonio (Il Santo) interior is closed to dogs, but the surrounding piazza and the Prato della Valle two blocks away are fully open.
