Pet-Friendly Transport in Padua

Padua's single tram line (10.5 km, 24 stops) runs north-south from Pontevigodarzere through the train station and the centre down to Guizza. Dogs are allowed on board: one larger dog per passenger on a short leash with a muzzle, or any number of small dogs in carriers (free). Tram operates 05:30–23:30 daily with frequent service every 6–10 minutes.

Padua's main station is a major Veneto hub: Venice in 25 minutes, Verona in 40 minutes, Vicenza in 15 minutes, Bologna in 60 minutes. Trenitalia regional trains accept medium and large dogs on a leash with muzzle for a fixed €5 ticket; small dogs in carriers (max 70×30×50 cm) travel free. On Frecciarossa/Frecciargento high-speed trains the fee is 50% of a regular adult ticket.

Radiotaxi Padova (049-651333) is the main taxi cooperative. Pet acceptance is at each driver's discretion: when you book, mention 'cane' and request a pet-friendly driver. Small dogs in carriers are universally accepted; for larger dogs a clean blanket or towel is appreciated. There is typically no extra charge, though some drivers add a €1–2 cleaning surcharge.
