Dog-Friendly Parks & Green Spaces in Padua

At 88,620 m², Prato della Valle is one of the largest urban squares in Europe — an elliptical green island encircled by a canal lined with 78 statues. Leashed dogs are welcome throughout, and the perimeter loop (around 1.2 km) is a classic Paduan dog walk used by locals morning and evening. The central lawn (Isola Memmia) is shaded by trees and ideal for a rest, while the surrounding canal walks offer continuous flat paths perfect for older dogs.

One of Padua's largest official off-leash dog areas (area cani), set within a wider neighbourhood park in the southern Mandria district. The fenced section offers ample open lawn for socialisation, benches, shaded trees and water access, and is popular with local dog owners every morning. The wider Parco Iris around it is on-leash but offers long flat paths suitable for older dogs.

A historic 19th-century English-style landscape garden designed by Giuseppe Jappelli, behind the Eremitani Civic Museums and a short walk from the train station. Leashed dogs are welcome throughout the winding paths, ornamental ponds and Romantic-era follies. A peaceful intermediate-length walk (about 30 minutes) in a beautifully maintained historic setting.
