Oviedo`s casco antiguo is small, flat and almost entirely pedestrian, linking the Catedral de San Salvador, Plaza del Fontán, the Mercado del Fontán and Calle Gascona within a few hundred metres, all easy to cover on lead. From the centre it is a 15-minute walk to the Campo de San Francisco and a longer uphill route or short taxi to the pre-Romanesque churches of Monte Naranco.
