Oviedo is een compacte, goed te voet te verkennen stad met een autovrije Casco Antiguo, waardoor een groot deel van een hondvriendelijk bezoek te voet plaatsvindt. Voor langere afstanden neemt het stadsbusnet (TUA) kleine honden mee in reismanden, RENFE en de smalspoorlijn FEVE verbinden Oviedo met Gijón en de Asturische kust (kleine honden reizen in een mand, grotere honden hebben een muilkorb en korte lijn nodig), ALSA-bussen bedienen de regio en heel Spanje, en luchthaven Asturias (OVD) ligt op ongeveer 40 minuten met de auto of shuttle ten noordwesten. Een tram heeft Oviedo niet.

Walking the City
Oviedo`s casco antiguo is small, flat and almost entirely pedestrian, linking the Catedral de San Salvador, Plaza del Fontán, the Mercado del Fontán and Calle Gascona within a few hundred metres, all easy to cover on lead. From the centre it is a 15-minute walk to the Campo de San Francisco and a longer uphill route or short taxi to the pre-Romanesque churches of Monte Naranco. The compact scale makes Oviedo one of the most relaxed Spanish cities to explore with a dog.
