Dog-Friendly Parks in Oviedo

Oviedo`s central park, around 9 hectares of mature plane trees, magnolias, fountains, ponds and statues laid out on the grounds of a former Franciscan convent, right beside the Calle Uría shopping street and the Teatro Campoamor. Dogs on lead are welcome on the gravel paths and lawns throughout, making it the easy daily walk for visitors staying in the centre. Look for the Woody Allen bronze statue nearby on Calle Milicias Nacionales.

The green hill rising directly north of Oviedo, crowned by the pre-Romanesque UNESCO World Heritage churches of Santa María del Naranco and San Miguel de Lillo (9th century). A network of walking and cycling trails climbs the slopes through meadows and woodland with sweeping panoramas back over the city and the Cathedral. Dogs on lead are welcome on the open trails and around the monument exteriors; the church interiors do not admit dogs.

A modern landscaped park on the western edge of the city centre, with lawns, water features, a large artificial lake and broad walking paths popular with runners and dog walkers. The park includes a fenced zona de esparcimiento canino where dogs can run off-leash under supervision, one of the most convenient off-leash options for visitors staying near the centre and the train stations. The rest of the park requires a lead.
