Oropesa del Mar sits on the AP-7 motorway halfway between Valencia (80 km south) and Castellón (30 km north). By car it is the easiest option — parking is free in most of the town and abundant outside summer. By train, Oropesa has its own RENFE Cercanías station on the Castellón–Valencia line, with dogs accepted in carriers. Public bus links are limited but functional.
Driving is by far the best option for pet owners. The AP-7 motorway gives direct access from Valencia (45 min) and Barcelona (3h). Free parking is plentiful in residential streets and the main car park near the fishing port. In July and August, the beachfront parking fills before 10am — arrive early or use the streets behind the old town.
Oropesa-Benicàssim RENFE station is 2 km from the town centre. Cercanías trains run from Valencia (1h10) and Castellón (20 min) regularly. Dogs under 6 kg travel free in a closed carrier. Dogs over 6 kg require a €6 supplement and must be muzzled and kept on lead in the vestibule area.
Regional bus services connect Oropesa to Castellón and Valencia. Small dogs in closed carriers are generally permitted at driver discretion. There is no dedicated pet supplement. Check with Herca (herca.es) before travelling as policies can vary.
