Getting Around Marbella with Pets

The main link between Málaga airport and Marbella, with multiple departures per hour (€8-10, 45-75 minutes). Small pets in a closed carrier (max 60x35x35 cm) travel free in the cabin and larger dogs can be requested in the cargo pet compartment when booking by phone or at the counter - never assume the same driver will accept a large dog without prior arrangement. The same line continues to San Pedro and Estepona.

The AVE high-speed line does not reach Marbella - the nearest station is Málaga María Zambrano, 60 km east. Small pets up to 10 kg travel in a closed carrier (60x35x35 cm) for €10 on Básico or Elige fares, free on Prémium. Selected daily AVE departures on the Madrid-Málaga route allow large dogs up to 40 kg without a carrier for a €35 supplement on Elige Estándar, leashed and muzzled, booked at least 24h in advance.

Marbella's official radio-taxi cooperative accepts dogs case by case - always call ahead and specify your pet's size so they assign a willing driver. Small dogs in a carrier are almost always accepted; large dogs leashed and muzzled may need a 5-10 minute wait. Uber operates in Marbella with a Uber Pet option (€2.50 supplement) introduced first in Málaga, which is the more reliable solution for visitors who do not speak Spanish.
