Between June and September, Marbella's pavements and the wooden boardwalks of the paseo marítimo can hit 50-60°C between 11:00 and 19:00 even when the air reads only 30°C - more than enough to burn paw pads in under 60 seconds. Apply the seven-second rule before every walk: press the back of your hand to the pavement; if you cannot hold it for seven seconds, do not walk your dog there. Walk before 09:30 or after 20:00, stick to shaded sand or grass, and always carry water.

Across Andalusia, dogs are banned from supervised beaches from 1 June to 30 September - the high-season lifeguard months. Marbella works around this with two designated year-round dog beaches (Pinillo and Ventura del Mar) signposted by the Ayuntamiento. The corollary matters: from October to May, almost every Marbella beach is effectively dog-walkable on a leash, with the wide low-season expanses of Cabopino and the Golden Mile becoming open territory.

Outdoor seating (terraza) is the default in Andalusia and dogs are widely accepted on it, but the indoor dining room is treated differently and you should never assume access. The local code: ask at the door even when other dogs are on the terrace, keep your dog under the table not on the bench, and tip on €1-2 in cash if staff brought a water bowl. The Casco Antiguo around Plaza de los Naranjos and the seafront chiringuitos are the friendliest zones; high-end Puerto Banús venues are the strictest.
