Edinburgh

The dormant volcano at Edinburgh's heart (251 m) is an extraordinary playground for dogs. Trails are open and dogs can go off-leash in most areas. The view over the city from the summit is spectacular.

The river that crosses Edinburgh is lined with a 12 km footpath from the city centre to Leith. Dogs can go off-leash in most sections. A green, peaceful route away from tourist bustle.

The main street of the medieval Old Town is accessible to dogs. Most lateral closes (alleyways) are perfect for exploring with a pet. Edinburgh Castle does not admit animals inside.

The royal park surrounding Arthur's Seat (263 ha) is fully accessible to dogs. The lochans (small lakes), Salisbury Crags cliffs and wide meadows make it one of Europe's finest urban parks.

Stockbridge is Edinburgh's most charming and dog-friendly neighbourhood. Sunday market, welcoming pubs, butchers and delis that keep a treat for your dog. Dean Village below is an architectural gem by the water.
