Best Dog Walks and Trails around Cromer

A classic clifftop stretch of the Norfolk Coast Path National Trail, running about four miles from Cromer Pier west over the cliffs and Beeston Bump to Sheringham, with big sea views the whole way. It is the perfect answer to the summer beach ban, staying high on the cliffs where dogs on a lead are always welcome. Keep dogs on a lead near the cliff edge, which is eroding and unfenced in places.

A grand National Trust estate near Cromer with around 520 acres of woods, rolling parkland, a lake and waymarked, buggy-friendly trails. Dogs are welcomed across the wider estate and even at the Squire's Pantry courtyard cafe, though not in the house or the formal walled garden. Dogs must be kept on a lead throughout the estate from 1 March to 31 July to protect ground-nesting birds, and in marked areas at other times.

An easy clifftop walk east of the town out to Cromer Lighthouse, standing on the high ground above the sea with sweeping views over the town, pier and coast. The grassy paths and open cliff are dog-friendly year-round on a lead, a good stretch of legs when the beach is closed to dogs in summer. Keep well back from the cliff edge, which erodes and is unfenced in places.
