Dog-Friendly Days Out around Cromer

The heart of the seaside town: a Grade II-listed Victorian pier that opened in 1902, home to the famous end-of-pier theatre and the RNLI lifeboat station, reaching out over the sea. Dogs on a lead are welcome on the promenade all year, making a stroll along the seafront and out towards the pier one of the best free things to do in Cromer with a dog, whatever the season.

A quieter cliff-backed village just east of Cromer, with a good sandy beach reached down the slopes. From 1 May to 30 September dogs are kept off the central section of the beach near the promenade, but the dog-friendly parts of the beach can still be reached via the slopes, and outside those months the whole beach opens up. The village itself is a pleasant, low-key stroll on a lead.

A characterful old fishing and seaside town a short hop west of Cromer, easily reached on the dog-friendly Bittern Line or on foot along the Norfolk Coast Path. It has a promenade, an independent high street and the North Norfolk Railway steam line, and like Cromer its beach has a summer dog restriction, so use the prom and the cliffs in season. A good half-day out with a dog on a lead.
