Dog-Friendly Beaches in and around Cromer

The wide sand-and-shingle town beach beneath the cliffs and the Victorian pier. From 1 May to 30 September dogs are banned from the beach itself either side of the pier, and the £100 fine is enforced, so in summer keep to the promenade, where dogs on a lead are welcome all year. From October to April the beach opens up to dogs and becomes a superb, breezy open space for a run below the cliffs.

The nearest year-round dog beach to Cromer, and the answer to the summer ban. This lovely wide sandy beach, backed by low cliffs and reached down a gap in the village, welcomes dogs all year with no seasonal restriction. At low tide the sand runs for miles, with rock pools and plenty of room for a game of fetch. You can even walk along the beach from here to Cromer.

A quieter sand-and-chalk beach famous as the spot where the West Runton Mammoth was found, and a great dog beach. It is dog-friendly, with only a small seasonal restriction from 1 May to 30 September along roughly the first 200 metres from the slipway; beyond that dogs are welcome year-round. Rock pools and chalk reefs make it a favourite for exploring at low tide.
