Getting Around Cannes with Pets

The urban bus network of Cannes and the Pays de Cannes agglomeration. Bus lines cover the city centre, the beaches, the residential hills, and extend to nearby Antibes and Vallauris. Small dogs in approved carriers travel free of charge; larger dogs on leads pay a reduced-rate ticket. The buses are air-conditioned and generally not crowded outside peak summer. Route 1 runs along the Croisette and is the most useful for visitors.

Cannes' main rail station, situated just two blocks inland from the Croisette. The TGV and regional TER network connects Cannes to Nice (30 min), Antibes (10 min), Marseille (2h), and Paris (5h30 by TGV). On SNCF trains, dogs under 6kg travel in an approved carrier for a flat fee of €7.50; dogs over 6kg require a muzzle and lead and pay 50% of the adult fare. The station itself is compact and easy to navigate with a dog.

Cannes has a reliable taxi network with ranks at the train station, the Palais des Festivals, and along the Croisette. Nearly all Cannes taxis accept dogs — a leashed dog in the back seat or a small dog in a carrier is standard practice. The flat rate within the centre is predictable and the drivers are generally accustomed to tourists. For airport transfers to Nice Côte d'Azur Airport (45 min), pre-booking a pet-friendly taxi or private transfer is the most stress-free option.
