Pet-Friendly Attractions in Cannes

The famous home of the Cannes Film Festival — recognisable by its long red carpet staircase, handprints of film stars in the forecourt, and location at the foot of the Croisette. The exterior is entirely dog-accessible. Walk up the famous steps (when no event is running) and inspect the celebrity handprints with your dog. The surrounding area — the Allées de la Liberté and the old port — makes for a 30-minute circuit that covers the heart of the city.

The old port of Cannes is one of the most pleasant waterfront walking circuits in the region — a horseshoe of quays lined with fishing boats, yachts, and pleasure craft, backed by the terraces of Le Suquet climbing the hill behind. Dogs on leads are entirely at home here and the quaysides have wide paved areas ideal for a slow morning walk. The fish market operates early mornings on the Quai Saint-Pierre. Several of the portside café terraces welcome dogs.

Cannes' archaeological and ethnographic museum, set inside a medieval castle at the top of Le Suquet. Dogs are not permitted inside, but the hilltop terrace and surrounding grounds are freely accessible and provide the finest panoramic view of the city, the bay, and the Lérins Islands. The climb up through Le Suquet's cobbled streets is itself a highlight for dogs. The terrace makes an excellent photo spot at any time of day.
