Dog-Friendly Waterfronts & Lakes near Bucharest

The 1 km central lake inside Herastrau Park, with a 6 km perimeter path and several cove inlets that locals use as informal dog swim spots in summer. The eastern shore around the Aviator entrance is the calmest. Pedalo and rowboat hire on the south side does not accept dogs, but the path itself is leash-friendly throughout.

A 17 km natural lake inside the Snagov Natural Park, 40 km north of Bucharest. Pine and oak forest reaches the water on the south shore, where dogs can swim freely outside the commercial lido zones. The free public sections accept leashed dogs all year; in July and August, the busiest beaches close to dogs but the wider forest trails remain open.

A 183-hectare protected wetland inside the city — Bucharest's 'urban delta' — created when an unfinished communist-era reservoir was reclaimed by reeds, frogs, and migratory birds. Marked boardwalks loop through the park, dogs welcome on a leash. Swimming is not allowed (it is a protected wildlife reserve), but it is the city's most unusual dog walk.
