The city hands out free dog-waste bags (Säckle) at dispensers along the promenades; leashes are required in the park zones and nature reserves.

Bregenz's home mountain, with forest trails from the old town to the 1064 m summit and a panorama across the whole Bodensee and 240 Alpine peaks. Dogs ride the cable car and can join the circular walk past the alpine wildlife enclosures on a leash.
The unlandscaped side of Bregenz's shore: gravel banks, poplar woods and the mouth of the Bregenzerach river west of the abbey. Quieter than the Seeanlagen and popular with local walkers; parts are protected biotope, so keep the leash on and respect nesting-season signs.
