Dog-Friendly Beaches near Alicante

Alicante's beach access for dogs follows a strict seasonal pattern. The main city beaches — Playa del Postiguet and Playa de San Juan — ban dogs entirely from 1 May to 1 October (with fines up to €300), which covers the whole swimming season. Fortunately, Playa de Agua Amarga 4 km south is one of the rare officially designated year-round dog beaches in Spain, making Alicante far better served than most Spanish coastal cities. Outside the summer ban, the main beaches relax to allow leashed dogs, and the long seafront promenades along Postiguet and San Juan are dog-friendly year-round even when the sand itself is off-limits.
