Dog-Friendly Beaches in & around Ajaccio

Wild crescent of white sand and granite headlands 15 minutes west of Ajaccio by car, facing the open sea (not the gulf). No lifeguard, no resort infrastructure, the longest stretch of unrestricted dog beach near the city. Popular with Ajaccio locals walking dogs at sunset year-round.

The long sand-and-pebble city beach of Ajaccio, stretching 4 km along the Gulf east of the centre. The central supervised section has the summer dog ban, but the eastern unsupervised stretch past the airport runway (Mare e Sole direction) is a year-round dog walking spot for locals.

The central city beach right under the Citadelle, a 200 m crescent of sand with calm shallow water. In low season this is the easiest dog-swim location in the city, accessible from the old town in 5 minutes on foot. Closed to dogs from June to September.
