Huisdiervriendelijke bezienswaardigheden en wandelingen in Tossa de Mar

The 12th-century walled medieval town that crowns the Cap de Tossa headland, with four 12th-13th-century watchtowers (Torre d`en Joanàs, Torre de les Hores, Torre de la Mare de Déu, Torre del Codolar), full battlemented ramparts and the Gothic ruins of the Sant Vicenç castle church inside. Declared a Spanish National Cultural Heritage site (Bé Cultural d`Interès Nacional) in 1931, this is the only fortified medieval centre that survives on the entire Catalan coast.

The bronze statue of Hollywood actress Ava Gardner, unveiled in 1998 on the Vila Vella rocks overlooking Platja Gran, commemorating the 1951 Albert Lewin film `Pandora and the Flying Dutchman` which she filmed entirely in Tossa de Mar. The statue is set on a free outdoor terrace with the medieval Vila Vella walls behind and the Mediterranean below; the most photographed leashed-dog photo spot in town.

The 1917 lighthouse at the easternmost tip of the Vila Vella headland, sitting on a wind-sculpted rocky outcrop with a 270-degree Mediterranean view. The exterior platform is freely accessible day and night, the on-site `Faro de Tossa` bar-restaurant has a terrace open most of the year, and the slate paths around the headland are all leashed-dog walks with views to Cala Bona and Cala Pola south.
