Sant Josep de sa Talaia

The highest point on Ibiza at 475 metres, this pine-covered hill gives a full circular view over the whole island and, on a clear day, as far as Formentera. The climb is done on a leash along shaded tracks, best kept for the cooler hours as there is no water point on the way.

This cove faces Es Vedra, Ibiza's most iconic magnetic rock islet, spectacular at sunset from the clifftop viewpoints. The high vantage points can be walked on a leash all year, but the sand of the patrolled beach is off-limits to dogs in the bathing season.

These working salt pans in the south of the island draw flamingos and a rich migratory birdlife across a flat landscape of dykes and lagoons. Paths and tracks can be walked on a leash, keeping your distance from the birds and the protected nesting areas.

This horseshoe-shaped cove, with calm sheltered water, is one of the municipality's favourites for family swimming. Like the other patrolled beaches of the Balearics, it bans dogs during the bathing season, so scout a small rocky cove off to the side instead.

The municipality's largest sandy beach, wide open and lined with restaurants, appeals for its shallow, clear water. Dogs are not allowed on the patrolled sand in summer, but the rocky coastal paths linking it to neighbouring coves can be walked on a leash away from the bathing areas.

This whitewashed fortified church of the eighteenth century, at the heart of the village, shows off Ibizan rural architecture with its arcaded porch and baroque altarpiece. The interior does not admit dogs, but the shaded square around it makes a good leashed pause.
