Fuengirola

Fuengirola's official dog beach, open since 2014 and one of the first in Málaga province, a fenced area of over 3,000 m² below the Sohail Castle where dogs swim and run year-round, summer included. It has dog showers, paw-wash points and a freshwater fountain for pets.

A restored 10th-century hilltop fortress overlooking the river mouth, the beach and the sea. Leashed dogs are welcome on the outdoor grounds and the hill around the walls, with the dog beach and riverside park directly below.

At around 7 km, the longest seafront promenade on the Costa del Sol, running the full length of Fuengirola past palm gardens, playgrounds and chiringuitos. A flat, breezy, on-leash walk linking the central beaches to the Castillo Sohail dog beach.

A large green riverside park at the mouth of the Río Fuengirola below the Sohail Castle, with sports courts, playgrounds and a fenced dog zone. It links straight to the dog beach, so you can combine a run in the park with a swim on the sand.

Fuengirola has around seven fenced municipal dog parks spread across town, including Los Boliches, the only places dogs may legally run off-leash apart from the dog beach. They give dogs a safe space away from traffic.

Fuengirola's acclaimed immersive zoo recreates tropical habitats in the middle of town and is a major attraction. Like nearly all zoos it does not admit pets, so plan for a companion to wait outside with your dog.
