Riva del Garda

12th-century moated castle in the heart of the centre. Its courtyards and lakeside surroundings can be explored on a leash; the MAG museum inside is assistance dogs only.

Venetian watchtower of 1508 clinging to the cliff above town, reached on foot by a switchback path or by a panoramic lift. Leashed dogs welcome, with a sweeping view over the lake.

Former road carved into the cliff above the lake, now a spectacular walking and cycling path toward the Ledro valley. Superb with a leashed dog; keep it close to the rock wall.

98-metre waterfall plunging into a gorge 3 km from Riva, laid out with walkways and gardens. Leashed dogs are allowed in the park.

Riva's main pebble-and-lawn beach, popular with windsurfers. Leashed dogs are tolerated outside the marked swimming zones; equipped dog beaches exist elsewhere around the lake.

Neighbouring village 4 km away, a world mecca of windsurfing and kitesurfing, with a long flat lakefront ideal for walking. Dog-friendly terraces and promenade on a leash.
