Positano

The legendary Path of the Gods, from Bomerano to Nocelle, delivers dizzying views over the coast. Leashed dogs are welcome and this is the real highlight of Positano for them, but bring plenty of water as shade is scarce.

The only flat walk in Positano links Spiaggia Grande to Fornillo along the cliff. Stair-free and panoramic, it is the easiest stroll in town for a leashed dog.

The majolica-domed church and its little piazza are the postcard heart of Positano. Leashed dogs enjoy the square and the lanes, though the church interior is off limits to them.

This terraced hamlet above Positano is greener, cooler and far quieter than the seafront, and marks the lower end of the Path of the Gods. Take the bus up to spare your dog the 1,500 steps.

The main beach below the church is mostly private lidos that generally do not welcome dogs, with summer restrictions. A place to pass through rather than to swim with a dog.
