Dog Walks & Green Spaces in Zakynthos

A roughly 20-minute uphill walk from Solomos Square in Zakynthos Town leads to the village of Bochali and the pine-shaded perimeter of the Venetian Castle at around 117 m, with the best panoramic views on the island. The shaded castle woodland and quiet village lanes make this the most rewarding leashed dog walk close to town.

The Vasilikos peninsula in the south-east is a patchwork of olive groves, vineyards, and quiet country lanes linking small beaches, ideal for long leashed walks away from traffic. The terrain is gentle and rural, but largely unshaded, so it is a dawn or dusk walk in high summer.

Starting from the village of Keri in the south-west, this farmland-and-clifftop route climbs through olives and vineyards to the lighthouse, with spectacular views over the Mizithres rock islets and the Ionian Sea. It is the island's most scenic leashed dog walk, but it is exposed and climbs steadily, so it is best at cooler hours.
